Looking around London: Space EC1

A few weeks ago I was wondering through Exmouth Market, in the Islington area (which by the way, is one of my favourite in London), and I stumbled upon a cute little gift shop called Space.

Of course, me being me, I had to go have a little peek inside, and just as predictably, I couldn't leave empty handed.

What you'll find in the store, is a little bit of everything: from cute house decorations, to knick knacks for your kitchen: just look at those very hip pineapples and cool mugs!

But also lots and lots of cards for any occasion (some are quite cheeky, too), and a very well assorted variety of notebooks in different styles and price ranges.

Now, on to my little haul, I *only* picked up a notebook, two cards and some paper bags.. but they're all oh so cool:

If you ever have the chance to, definitely go check it out!

I've been loving seeing everyone's post about what they sent and received for the Secret Penpal Scavenger Hunt, and today I want to share with you some of my favourite bits and pieces.

Handmade goodies: a cute notebook and a cross-stitched monogram, a matchbox diorama, and lavender satchel.

Beautiful lettering: on one of the boxes, on a little handmade booklet, and on the parcel tags.

Animal love: because who doesn't like animals, right?

If you want to read more about some of the participants' experience, check out these blog posts: the Paperdashery, Naomi Loves, Paper Trail Diary, A Peachy Keen Day, Quaint Little Villages, MarineGirlAdventures; or browse the Instagram tag.

SPSH Reveal Day pt. 1

It's finally time for everyone to reveal what they got and sent for the Secret Penpal Scavenger Hunt 2016!

It was so exciting to see, once again, so many people being interested in the project and putting together their parcels with lots of care. Not so exciting, instead, was that I couldn't join my own swap.. yep, there were some issue with a couple of people that for one reason or another couldn't any longer participate when the time came, so instead of sacrificing someone else, I stepped down from the fun myself.

It still didn't keep me from having fun just by looking at all the wonders on the SPSH tag on IG. In fact, these are just a few of my favourite pictures that have been posted.

In a couple of days, I'll be posting more eye candy for you, and we'll finally see what was inside all these lovely parcels! β™₯

Looking Around London: Kikki.K Store - Covent Garden

I've finally done it! I've been dreaming of this day for a long time and it finally came true. Ok, I might be slightly exaggerating BUT I was truly excited to visit the KikkiK store in London, so bear with me.

I've been to the pop-up shop in Covent Garden, it was a Monday around noon so it wasn't too packed and I had the chance to stop and admire every single shelf without pressure. I was of course stunned by all the beautiful pieces in the collection, but the store itself is also gorgeous, and perfectly reflects the minimal yet beautifully-detailed style of their stationery.

I couldn't buy anything that day, but I'm already planning to visit the other shop in James Street to see what's new there, and maybe go on a little birthday-shopping spree? Mmh.. Anyway, if you ever find yourself in Covent Garden, make sure to go and have a look: the stationery eye candy is to die for!

Are you a fan of the Kikki.K brand as well? β˜Ί

Everyday Inspiration: Lettering Around London - part 1

β–Ό SOHO

β–Ό SOHO

As someone said, inspiration is everywhere and you only need to keep your eyes open; this is a quote I strongly agree with and that I like keeping in mind whenever I travel, go out, or even simply go grocery shopping. You never know what could catch your eye and spark a burst of creativity!

I've recently been to London, and as many of you will know, it is such a vibrant and modern city that inspiration can hide behind any corner. In particular, I've found lots of beautiful signs displaying great example of lettering, and decided to photograph some to keep and look at them later.

Over the course of the months, as I'm sure I will stumble in even more of those, I will make sure to create little collections to share here, hoping that they might inspire you as well.

Is there anything on your daily commute that inspires you?

Stationery Spotlight: Monthly Picks

Yes, I know. Just the other day I said I wanted to clear out my bottomless stash of stationery, yet here I am today writing about more stationery I want! (ΰ²₯_ΰ²₯) In my defense, however, I've put myself on a spending ban until mid November, so there's no risk I'm going to buy any of these.. yet! But enough talking, let me show you some serious stationery eye candy:

1. Paperchase 'Mystic Rose' Collection: mmh, muted floral patterns, black, rose gold, AND skulls all in one collection? I mean, not that Paperchase ever had to try that hard to get me to reach for my credit card, but now this is ridiculous! Can I have one of everything, please?

2. Kikki K 'Be Brave' Collection: I have an obsession with sticky notes, even better if they're pastel toned.

3. Ban.do Desk Essentials: I love my Ban.do agenda, it really changed the way I manage my time, and they also have lots of other amazing goodies.

And you, have you got your eyes on any stationery eye candy? β˜Ί If so, please feel free to share, I've still got plenty of room on my wishlist! *wink wink*

Do More of What Makes You Happy

I have a lot of favorite quotes, but if I had to choose a motto, that would be

do more of what makes you happy.

With work, or school, and the commitments of every day life, it's really easy to get swamped into a routine that makes it difficult to find the time for the simple things that makes us happy and that lighten and brighten our days.

It doesn't matter if it's only for a few hours a week, I think we should all take the time to do something we enjoy, whether it's simply reading a book, go to a cafΓ© with a friend, or even go hiking!

Sometimes the little things, no matter how small or trivial they may seem, can make a difference and add moments to our days that can make us smile.

Five things that I enjoy doing whenever I have a hole in my schedule are:

  • Doodle mindlessly in my personal sketchbook: I just doodle for the pleasure of doing it, no one has to see the outcome and it takes away all the pressure that comes with it, so it doesn't matter what I draw, as much as it matter that I draw for fun.
  • Baking & cooking: I cook lunch and dinner everyday, but most of the time I consider it a chore. I have things to do before and after supper, so I can't take as much time as I'd like for it. However, especially on the weekend, I enjoy spending time in the kitchen to prepare more articulated dishes, or even to treat myself and bake something!
  • Go for a tea or a coffee: both tea and coffee are essential to fuel my days, but I very rarely go out to a cafΓ© to enjoy one, and whenever I do, I always get a cookie and treat it like a special occasion.
  • Sing along to my favorite childhood songs: I have a playlist on Spotify where I collect all the cheesy pop punk songs I loved growing up. Sometimes, when I'm alone at home, I enjoy blasting them and singing along feeling like I'm 16 all over again.
  • Cuddle up in a blanket and read: a book and a blanket it's one of those combos made in heaven, and I try to cut out an hour every evening to enjoy it.

When you start thinking about it, there are so many small opportunities to do something that can make us even a tiny bit happier. Sometimes it's the little things that matters most, don't you think?

What's something simple you enjoy doing whenever you have a little bit of down time? I would love to hear them!
